This page of the West Kingdom web site awards list system is used to explain the various awards that are listed in the West Kingdom Awards List that may be given by The Baron and/or Baroness of Winter's Gate.

Descriptions of awards and tokens comes from a variety of sources, including but not limited to: The Laws of the Barony of Winter's Gate, the West Kingdom Ceremony Book, an article in the West Kingdom Herald's Handbook on Awards, Baronial websites, or heralds, etc.

Order of the Estoile
Given for long-term service to the Barony. People receiving this award have usually been members of the barony for several years, have held one or more offices, are often instrumental in keeping the baronial activities on track, and are examples for all to follow. The token is an embroidered medallion of the badge for the order: Sable, an estoille voided and a bordure argent. Listing of all Members of the Order of the Estoile

Order of the Silver Swan
Given not only to those who produce arts and sciences that clothe us, feed us, armor us, and entertain us, but also to the historians who research, teach and publish. The symbol of this award is a silver swan suspended from a cord with baronial colors. Listing of all Members of the Order of the Silver Swan

Friends of the Barony
Given to those hardy souls who, although not members of the Barony, have traveled frequently to our isolated lands, have aided, encouraged (and sometimes incited) us in war and peace, and have generally been our friends, especially back in ancient times when it was not politically wise to be such a friend. Formerly the Order of the Stoud Hart. Listing of all Friends of the Barony

Order of the Gilded Lily
This recognition is given for the best death on the field of honor. Members of the order may paint a gold heraldic lily on their helms, one for each time they are given the award. The badge for the order is Sable a lily blossom Or. Listing of all Members of the Order of the Gilded Lily

Order of the Bear Claw
Given for ferocity on the field of honor. Members of the order are usually given a medallion of a bear's paw print. Listing of all Members of the Order of the BearClaw

Order of the Ice Worm
This recognition is given for the most outrageous ideas that are actually carried out. Listing of all Members of the Order of the Ice Worm

Order of the Polar Bear
Former Captains of Winter's Gate are named Companions of the Polar Bear. This was formerly the Captain's Guard. The token is a belt(?). Listing of all Members of the Order of the Polar Bear

Order of the Snowdrop
This is given to past Hearts of Winter's Gate (ladies of the Captain). Listing of all Companions of the Order of the Snowdrop

Baroness' Recognition
Given for service which the Baroness would have to have done Herself, or for service for Her Excellency, a token of appreciation. This can be given multiple times. The token is individually chosen. Listing of all Recipients of the Baroness' Recognition

Captain of Winter's Gate
The Captain of Winter's Gate is the victor of the local tournament held typically twice a year. The earliest entries go back to before Winter's Gate was a Barony. A listing of "Unknown" for the royalty is simply from that period. After January of 1984, Winter's Gate was a Barony, and all Captains and Hearts of Winter's Gate will show the Baron and/or Baroness at the time they were named with the title. Sometimes called "Captain of the Militia". Listing of all Current and Past Captains of Winter's Gate

Heart of Winter's Gate
The Heart of Winter's Gate is the consort of the victor of the local tournament held typically twice a year. The earliest entries go back to before Winter's Gate was a Barony. A listing of "Unknown" for the royalty is simply from that period. After January of 1984, Winter's Gate was a Barony, and all Captains and Hearts of Winter's Gate will show the Baron and/or Baroness at the time they were named with the title. Commander of Winter's Gate
Rapier champion of the Barony of Winter's Gate. The tournament for this honor is generally held twice a year at the Captaincy Tournament event. Sometimes called "Commander of the Cavaliers". Listing of all Current and Past Commanders of Winter's Gate

Light of Winter's Gate
The Light of Winter's Gate is the consort of the rapier champion, or Commander of Winter's Gate. Listing of all Current and Past Lights of Winter's Gate

Fool of Winter's Gate
Chosen by the Baroness at Fool's Revel (there may be a contest or theme, or she may choose the person who makes her laugh), and reigns as Fool for one year. Listing of all Current and Past Fools of Winter's Gate

The Silver Star
The Silver Star Award was created to acknowledge the children for all aspects of honor, chivalry, service and the Arts and sciences. The first time the award is received, a silver starfish is given to the child with a single white or black bead. Each time after, another black or white bead is given to be added to the child's cord. Order of the Arctic Fox
Former Commanders of Winter's Gate are named Companions of the Arctic Fox. Listing of all Companions of the Arctic Fox

Order of the Shooting Star
This is given to past Lights of Winter's Gate (ladies of the Commander). Listing of all Companions of the Order of the Shooting Star

Order of the Atlas
Given to people who work quietly in the background. The token is a piece of material with an atlas painted on it, meant to be worn as a belt token. Current recipients are charged to pass the recognition on to new recipients. Listing of all Members of the Order of the Atlas

Pewter Pot
Given for excellence in the researching and preparation of good period food. Listing of all Recipients of the Pewter Pot
